Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow is a term used to describe pain felt on the lateral or outside aspect of the elbow. It is an extremely common elbow pain presentation to our practice that we see on a daily basis. More often than not it is due to tendonopathy of the common extensor tendon of the elbow, which is a weakening of the tendon structure due to overload that eventually leads to inflammation of the tendon and pain. In some circumstances the tendon can even become torn leading to more severe lateral elbow pain and resultant weakness in the arm and weakness of grip strength.

Treatment consists of reducing the pain and inflammation whilst reducing excessive muscle tightness in the extensor muscles that attach to the painful tendon. It is then important to undertake a specific strengthening program to increase the strength of the tendon structure, restoring full function and reducing the risk of further painful episodes in the future. If you suffer elbow pain let us show you how you can get rid of it once and for all.
