Hip Joint Arthritis


Arthritis of the hip joint is an extremely common problem, particularly as we get older, and is one of the most common joint replacement surgeries performed. Left untreated, it can become extremely debilitating, but with good early management a lot can be done to keep it at bay and avoid severe complications.


There are a number of ways you can decrease your risk of hip joint arthritis. One of the most important is to keep your weight within a healthy range, as excess body weight loads the joint and increases wear and tear within the hip. Maintaining flexibility around the hips with specific stretching exercises is beneficial, as it maintaining the strength of the important hip muscles with specific strengthening exercises.
